PUBLIC PARKS AND PUBLIC SPACES– Environmental Design and Wayfinding
:: Central Park Conservancy
Client: Central Park Conservancy
Role: Freelance Environmental Designer
Main Tasks: During my time at Central Park Conservancy, I contributed to several initiatives aimed at enhancing the park’s visitor experience and aligning with its branding strategy. As an Environmental Designer I conducted in-depth research, strategically determined the optimal placement of various sign types throughout Central Park’s expansive 350 historic acres, and ensured that the signage and framing structures seamlessly integrated with its historical and environmental context. The example below shows how signs would be planned throughout the park.

I contributed to the creation of consolidated park welcome signs featuring four distinct sign types, to be placed at all 53 entry points across Central Park. Each sign type addresses a specific need, providing clear information on park rules, safety guidelines, accessibility, wildlife protection, and emergency procedures. The goal was to maintain consistency across the park while catering to the unique requirements of each area.
